Online Markup

We feel that this is a unique function of the WorkFlow system and one that has the potential to save huge amounts of time as well as reduce the possibility for error.

At any stage an annotation can be physically added to the file on the system (see right) without damaging the file itself. When the annotation has been saved, an auto-generated e-mail is sent to whoever it is programmed to go to, instructing them that an annotation has been added and to what file. They can then go straight to the file, view the annotation, effect the amendment and re-upload a new page. Once the new page is uploaded another auto e-mail is sent to all concerned so it can be checked and approved.

You can imagine the time and cost saving of making a few minor corrections during the latter stages of a title. If you need to make a small correction, just do it on line, save it, and wait for the new page to be uploaded, check it, approve it. DONE! No phone calls, no faxes and the receiver does not need to print out the page, although they can if they want, but that is their cost.

Another big advantage! If you are adding a paragraph for instance, the Typesetter can select and copy the text you have keyed in the annotation and then drop it straight into their pagination system so saving more time and reducing re-key errors.

As you can see from the graphic, all annotations are simple text boxes, there is no bad handwriting to decipher and no possibility of misinterpretation (assuming the instruction itself is clear). As if that is not enough, it even checks your spelling!

Remember, this function is not dependent on the user needing any preinstalled software and the page does not need to be downloaded, it is done directly on-line through the browser. It really is as simple as it sounds.
